Last night I couldn't sleep and so my stranger told me a fairy tale about a foot soldier who found a magic jacket that made him handsome. The princess fell in love with him, and even when he took off the jacket, she loved him with all her heart.
i couldn't sleep last night either. neither could my friend at the cafe. neither could her roommate. what was up with last night, i wonder? and will it keep happening?
A quick bit of research reveals that it was originally published by Charles Perrault in "Tales of Mother Goose" in 1697 - that is, Rique with The Tuft was, not your stranger's tale. In some translations, it is called, deplorably, "Tufty Ricky". Still a good story, though.
Wooden spoon-wielding, paint-flinging, poem-spouting, laughing, listening, hand-me-down clothed, pierced hippy with a mission: bring the love of reading to children everywhere.
